Non-Invasive Ultrasonic Flow Measurement

The UltraFlo™ Series is FLO-CORP's line of clamp-on ultrasonic flow meters, designed for accurate, non-invasive liquid flow measurement without cutting into the pipe or placing components directly in the process stream. Using ultrasonic transit-time technology, external transducers send signals both with and against the direction of flow. The difference in transit time is used to calculate liquid velocity and flow rate, allowing the system to measure flow directly through the pipe wall without contacting the process fluid.

The UltraFlo™ Series includes two models for different piping and installation requirements. The UFT3 is available in fixed or portable configurations and is designed for applications requiring a broad pipe-size range, making it suitable for permanent process monitoring, temporary measurement, troubleshooting, system verification, and retrofit installations. The compact UFS3 is designed specifically for permanent flow measurement on small pipes, providing a clamp-on solution where pipe size or installation space may make conventional flow instrumentation more difficult to implement.

Because UltraFlo™ transducers mount externally, installation can be completed without placing an obstruction or mechanical measuring element inside the pipeline. This means virtually no additional pressure loss, no moving parts in the process stream, and no wetted sensor components. The clamp-on design can also eliminate the need for pipe cutting, new fittings or flanges, and other mechanical modifications associated with installing an inline flow meter, making UltraFlo™ particularly useful for existing piping and retrofit projects.

UltraFlo™ can be used with many commonly encountered metal and plastic piping materials when application conditions are suitable for ultrasonic measurement, including carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, PVC, and CPVC. Typical applications include process water, cooling water, HVAC and chilled-water systems, chemical processing, industrial manufacturing, water and wastewater, and energy and facility monitoring.

Proper model selection depends on pipe size, wall thickness, pipe material, process liquid, temperature, flow range, available straight-pipe run, and installation requirements.
