The Return of MEMFlo™: Corrosion-Resistant Flow Measurement Is Back at FLO-CORP

A familiar name returns to the FLO-CORP product lineup, bringing proven variable area flow measurement technology back to demanding industrial applications.

Some products deserve another chapter.

In January 2025, FLO-CORP removed the MEMFlo™ series from its product lineup. After nearly two years away, we're excited to announce the return of the MEMFlo™ MFVC Corrosion-Resistant Variable Area Flow Meter.

Designed for applications where chemical compatibility, measurement accuracy, and long-term reliability are essential, the MEMFlo™ MFVC combines corrosion-resistant construction with a straightforward, rugged measurement design.

Its return expands FLO-CORP's flow measurement portfolio, providing another solution for customers working with challenging liquids and industrial processes.

Built for Applications Where Corrosion Resistance Matters

Not every flow measurement application involves clean water or mild process conditions.

In chemical processing, water treatment, plating operations, and other industrial environments, flow meters may be exposed to acids, alkalis, salt solutions, and aggressive process fluids.

Selecting the appropriate instrumentation in these environments requires more than choosing a measurement range. Material compatibility, maintenance requirements, and process conditions all play an important role.

The MEMFlo™ MFVC is designed with PVC and CPVC construction and all-plastic wetted components, providing resistance to many corrosive fluids while supporting dependable volumetric flow measurement.

Typical applications include:

  • Chemical processing and chemical transfer

  • Water and wastewater treatment

  • Plating solutions

  • Acids and caustic solutions

  • Deionized water and high-purity fluids

  • Industrial processes involving compatible corrosive liquids

With multiple material and O-ring configurations available, the MFVC can be selected to suit specific process requirements.

How MEMFlo™ Variable Area Technology Works

The MEMFlo™ MFVC utilizes patented variable area technology to measure volumetric flow.

Unlike conventional tapered-tube rotameters, the MFVC uses a slotted core tube and float assembly.

Process media enters vertically through the bottom inlet and travels upward into the core tube. As the fluid moves through the meter, it passes through the core tube slot and exits through the side outlet.

The flowing media lifts the float assembly in direct proportion to the flow rate, providing a mechanical indication of flow.

This design offers several important advantages.

The slotted core tube provides excellent tolerance to suspended solids, making the meter suitable for applications where conventional tapered-tube designs may be less desirable.

Additionally, the MFVC operates without springs, cams, or dynamic seals that can wear over time.

Flow indication is available through a visible sight disc with polysulfone measuring tubes or a magnetic indicator with CPVC measuring tubes.

The result is a straightforward measurement system designed for durability, visibility, and ease of maintenance.

Reliable Performance Without Unnecessary Complexity

Industrial flow measurement doesn't always require complex electronics or extensive programming.

For applications where dependable local flow indication is the priority, a mechanical variable area meter can provide a practical solution.

The MEMFlo™ MFVC offers:

  • ±1% full-scale accuracy for dependable flow measurement

  • ±0.5% repeatability of indicated flow for consistent readings

  • An average 30:1 flow range for flexibility across operating conditions

  • Line sizes from ½ inch to 4 inches to accommodate a range of piping systems

  • Threaded, socket weld, and Van Stone-style flanged connections for installation flexibility

Depending on configuration and operating conditions, pressure ratings extend up to 300 psig, with temperature capabilities up to 212°F.

These capabilities make the MFVC a practical choice for industrial processes requiring corrosion resistance and reliable flow indication.

Designed with Maintenance in Mind

In industrial environments, equipment maintenance can mean more than replacing a component. It can involve process interruptions, labor, and production downtime.

The MEMFlo™ MFVC was designed with serviceability in mind.

Its rugged construction eliminates springs, cams, and dynamic seals, reducing the number of components subject to mechanical wear.

The meter can also be disassembled in less than a minute without removing it from the pipeline, simplifying inspection and maintenance.

For facilities operating with challenging process fluids, this accessible design can be an important advantage when selecting flow instrumentation.

A Familiar Solution Returns to the Lineup

FLO-CORP has provided industrial flow, level, and monitoring instrumentation since 1989, with a focus on helping customers find reliable solutions for their specific applications.

The return of MEMFlo™ reflects that same application-focused approach.

While the MFVC may be a familiar name to longtime FLO-CORP customers, its reintroduction creates a new opportunity for facilities seeking corrosion-resistant variable area flow measurement.

Whether you're replacing existing instrumentation, evaluating a new process, or selecting a meter for aggressive chemical service, the MEMFlo™ MFVC offers a combination of durable materials, reliable performance, and straightforward operation.
